Hi everyone! I’m Elisa, a 24-year-old from Oldenburg, Germany. This summer, I had an incredible experience that I just have to share with you. I spent three months in Malta doing an internship with inlingua Malta, and it was the perfect mix of work, fun, and exploring a new culture. If you’re considering an internship abroad or just curious about Malta, I hope my story inspires you!
How It All Started
I first heard about inlingua Malta from my neighbour, who couldn’t stop raving about her time there. With a little research, I found out that it was part of a well-known language school network, and I knew this was the place for me. But before packing my bags, I had to go through the Erasmus application process with my university.
If you’re thinking of doing an internship abroad, here’s a quick rundown of what I had to do:
Find the institution: It took me some time, but after a couple of weeks of online research, I chose inlingua Malta.
Prepare documents: This included writing a motivation letter (I wrote about why I wanted to work in Malta), preparing a CV, and filling out an agreement form with the school.
Insurance and Erasmus sponsorship: These are super important. The Erasmus program helped cover living costs, and I made sure to get proper insurance for my time abroad.
First Days in Malta
When I finally arrived in Malta, I was blown away by how beautiful it is! I was lucky to start my internship in July, just in time for the teen summer camp. For three weeks, I worked as a group leader, organizing fun activities for the kids, and it honestly felt more like a vacation than work! We visited stunning places like Gozo Island and the Blue Grotto and spent lots of time enjoying Malta’s beaches.
What I loved most about the summer camp was that while I was working, I was also having an incredible time. Imagine spending your workdays exploring beautiful landscapes, swimming in crystal-clear waters, and soaking up the sun. It was the perfect way to experience Malta.
Why inlingua Malta Was the Perfect Choice
One of the best things about inlingua Malta is how close it is to the beach. After a day of working or leading activities, I could just walk down and relax by the sea. The sunsets here are absolutely magical—if you ever visit Malta, I highly recommend catching one from Dingli Cliffs. Trust me, it’s an experience you won’t forget.
The school itself offers accommodation, which was super convenient, and the people? Just amazing. I met students and interns from all over the world—Switzerland, Japan, Italy, the Czech Republic, and of course, Germany. Everyone was so kind and open, which made settling in really easy. It felt like a home away from home.
As an intern, I worked a minimum of 35 hours a week, but the work was always varied and fun. After the summer camp, I also got the chance to take English classes with Karina, one of the teachers at inlingua. I loved the speaking classes the most because they gave me the chance to practice my English with people from different countries.

Exploring Malta: My Highlights
Besides work, I made sure to explore as much of Malta as possible during my free time. Here are some of the must-see places:
Dingli Cliffs: The sunsets here are like something out of a postcard. A must-visit!
Gozo Island: If you love beaches and nature, Gozo is a paradise.
Blue Grotto: This spot has the clearest blue water I’ve ever seen, perfect for a boat trip or just to marvel at nature.
One thing I learned from this experience is that being alone in a new country can be such a rewarding experience. Living and working in Malta by myself gave me the chance to grow in ways I never imagined. I became more independent and confident, and I learned so much about myself along the way.
Why I’d Do It All Over Again
My time in Malta with inlingua was an amazing blend of work and holiday. I gained invaluable experience that will help me in my studies and future career as an educator, but I also had so much fun and made memories that will last a lifetime. If you’re ever thinking about doing an internship abroad, I cannot recommend Malta enough. It’s beautiful, the people are friendly, and there’s always something new to discover.
I’m now back in Germany, ready to continue my Master’s in Education, but I’m carrying a little piece of Malta with me. From the gorgeous landscapes to the international friendships, this summer was one of the best experiences of my life.
So, would I recommend an internship at inlingua Malta? Absolutely! It’s the perfect mix of professional development and unforgettable fun.
